In honor of that event, Kripalu and The Breathing Project have joined forces to host an unprecedented celebration—bringing together some of Desikachar’s best-known students—to pay tribute to the life and work of this exemplary teacher of yoga. Representing the founding core of the ever-expanding field of yoga therapeutics in the West, these master teachers offer a mix of talks and on-the-mat practice sure to educate, uplift, and inspire.

The brilliant son of Tirumalai Krishnamacharya, “the teacher of the teachers,” Desikachar was a great yoga scholar and engineer who was able to bring to modern minds the full impact of his father's teaching. Above all else, Desikachar honored the uniqueness of every individual and insisted that yoga teaching be skillfully adapted to each person.
